Le Cave and the Lucky Boys

Backroads, rainy days, and a cold north wind what are you going to find? Well if you are lucky a warm room and maybe a hot band. Lynda and I found Le Cave vineyard which is just south of Billings . It was what I call the real deal, it’s a family owned vineyard who are there for your enjoyment. The ambience is wonderful. The staff is folksy and warm, and they definitely love what they’re doing. Larry and Beth opened their wine barn to all comers and made us feel like you were at a neighborhood party. The Barn is over 100 years old and converted into a great venue. Which brings me to the reason for the blog,…. Bands and watering holes. The band “Lucky Boys” may be lucky but I think we had the best luck. The band was all about good times and great tunes. They covered the blues classics and gave us the feel we were just included in a relaxed nightly practice. They brought night home with Captain Jacks favorite Mustang Sally. Tom and the Lucky Boys left us wanting a couple more hours of their music friendship. Great time,.. please checkout the Lucky Boys and the Le Cave vineyard.

ABS at Key Largo

I caught the 2nd set of ABS on St Pat Day. The music was a wonderful blend of Funk an R& B. The lead Richard Allen keep the band trucking down the funk trail . The Master Bassman Ernie Bedel was outstanding . Lead guitarist Steve Ragsdale was tight with the always there percussion line by EJ Bedel and Richie Allen. Overall a great band with a real sound if you get a chance go see them. Key Largo is just north of Republic Road at...1281 east Republic Road almost to National. Parking is best around back . One of the best draws to Key Largo is the size of their dance floor, Large enough to party and small enough to meet someone new.

Sertoma Chili Cookoff repost

Saturday the Febuary 16th was a outstanding day for the Sertoma Club Chili cookoff. The weather was cold and dreary outside and the convention rooms were packed. The booths were throughout the hall and the Bands were at each end. The music venue was divided into two groups the display floor and a side ally. The side ally gave the feel of a bar ampersphere ,which gave the crowd a excuse to close in on the bands and charge the room. The display floor room projected the concert expression. All of the bands did a great job working the crowds. I didn’t talk to any chili muncher that was disappointed. Some of the outstanding band for me was Jah Roots,HotBox, Ben Miller, and Dropout.
Jah Roots came to the convention center with their own fan club. They were the last band in the side room and they brought the show home with smooth rhythm and great vocals. I was able to get some my best shot from their drummer Josh Nail.

Another set of shots I was able to capture was with the sax player Rick "cool poppa" Shortt for HotBox , he was working the fans, I liked the sound of Hotbox their excitment was contation. Be sure and check their web site, HotBox.

Back to the conventtion floor room, The band I was able to shot the best was the Dropouts with Gene Puckett,Greg Frazier, and Scott Taylor.

Eric Sardinas at Cartoons

The concert was a bash. What a awesome night, Eric blew the roof off of Cartoons. If you see him near you take the time and check the band out.  Eric and Big Motor were promoting their new album which was out February 19. The CD kicks ass. It looked like they sold out Friday night.
